The project “Healthy and Safe Relationships” supports the development of children’s and young people’s awareness of safe and caring relationships and helps prevent domestic and dating violence. The project focuses on prevention, education, and the development of practical skills within the school environment.
By spring 2027, the program will reach 100 schools across Estonia, and educational materials for teachers will be developed.
Project Content
The aim of the project is to support the development of students’ social and emotional skills and to increase awareness of the principles of safe relationships.
As part of the project:
Prevention and awareness-raising lectures are conducted in 100 schools (for grades 4–9)
Learning materials and tools are developed for teachers and trainers
A network of external trainers is created and trained, consisting of 25 midwives and 10 medical students
A teacher’s guide is developed for addressing domestic and dating violence with grades 1–3
A conference for teachers is organized on the topic of domestic violence and preventive education
These activities contribute to improving the quality of preventive education and support a systematic and sustainable approach to addressing safe relationships in educational institutions.
Broader Goals and Impact
The project helps foster a safer and more caring communication culture in schools and supports young people’s ability to recognize risky behavior and seek help when needed.
In the long term, the project contributes to:

Strengthened capacity of educational institutions to carry out preventive work
Sustainable use of educational materials and methodologies
Development of a professional community of trainers
