AI Leap – The Next Major Development Leap for Estonian Society
AI Leap is a nationwide education program aimed at guiding the meaningful and responsible use of artificial intelligence in Estonian schools. During the pilot year, the program focuses on upper secondary schools, supporting the development of AI literacy among both teachers and students.
As part of the program, teachers are given access to AI tools, and a system of professional learning communities is developed to support the rethinking of teaching in the age of artificial intelligence. The project helps shape young people’s informed and responsible use of AI and supports their readiness to learn and work in a rapidly changing digital environment.
Project Content
The aim of the project is to establish a systematic approach to the use of artificial intelligence in education and to support the development of skills among teachers and students in a new technological environment.
As part of the project:
Teachers are provided with access to AI tools
School-based teacher learning communities and support networks are developed
Workshops, training sessions, and hackathons are organized for students
Methodologies and learning formats for engaging young people are developed
Learning materials and practical guidelines for using AI are created
Collaboration with education and youth organizations is strengthened
The program involves the majority of Estonian upper secondary schools, with activities supported by partners across the education and youth sectors.
