Artists Are Present – Estonian Language and Culture in Narva Schools
The project “Artists Are Present” brings professional Estonian artists to schools in Narva and Ida-Viru County, where they work together with students through creative workshops, discussions, and collaborative experimentation.
Young people gain direct experience of contemporary art and the opportunity to use the Estonian language in a natural and inspiring environment. The project connects language learning with creative activities and supports students’ self-expression.
About the Project
The aim of the project is to bring the Estonian language and culture to young people in a way that is engaging, practical, and meaningful.
As part of the project:
Workshops led by professional artists are held in schools, involving 27 artists and 9 schools
Discussions and creative projects are organized with student groups
Participating artists and teachers receive training on integrating language and subject learning, multilingualism, and classroom communication
Opportunities are created for using Estonian in natural communication situations
Cooperation between schools and the cultural sector is strengthened

The project helps strengthen young people’s connection to the Estonian language and cultural space, while supporting their confidence in self-expression.
