
The project “Bringing Lesson Study to Estonian Schools” introduces an internationally recognized model of collaborative professional development for teachers into the Estonian education system. Lesson Study supports teachers in jointly analyzing and improving their teaching practices, with a strong focus on enhancing student learning in the classroom.
During the project, the methodology is adapted to fit the Estonian context, piloted in different types of schools, and supported with Estonian-language guidelines for teachers and school leaders.
Project Content
The aim of the project is to support teachers’ professional development and improve the quality of teaching through systematic collaboration, while promoting learner-centered and evidence-based teaching practices in Estonian schools.
As part of the project:
- An Estonian-language Lesson Study guide is developed
- The methodology is piloted in three Estonian schools
- Collaborative teacher learning groups are established
- Lesson observations, joint analysis, and reflection sessions are conducted
- Data is collected on the impact of the methodology on teaching and learning
- Experiences are shared through seminars, conferences, and media
These activities contribute to building a learning organization culture in schools and support the wider adoption of evidence-based teaching practices.
